Open Questions

The book raises questions it does not yet answer. They are not gaps to be patched but research questions that the series A Tale of a New Era returns to. The list is refined along with the book.

1. Whose reading is this?

Essay 2

The book was written in dialogue with a language model, and every prompt has been published. The question still remains: who recognises, and from where? It concerns everyone who reads their own life as a story.

2. When does recognition happen?

Essay 2 · essay 7

For Aristotle the best plot is one where recognition and reversal come at the same moment. The book’s condition says recognition comes after the turn, and in Robin’s examples only after the suffering. Which order holds on the scale of history?

3. Where are you?

Essay 3 · Gen. 3:9

Genesis leaves the question hanging and says nothing of a return, not even a promise. At the end of Revelation people see the face (Rev. 22:4). What is the answer when you hear the question yourself?

4. The miss before the measure

Essay 4 · Rom. 5:13–14

The miss exists before the measure, but without the measure it cannot be seen. Can it be recognised in any other way than afterwards, through the measure?

5. The cause of the turn

Essay 4 · Rom. 8:3

For Paul the cause of the turn is Christ. This book follows only the movement of the turn and takes no position on its cause. What brings the turn, if no one makes it?

6. The outside

Essay 5 · Rev. 14:9–11, 20:15, 21:8

In Revelation the gates stand open, yet judgement also falls on people. The condition that no one is left outside neither failed nor was fulfilled. The tension is left for the next books in the series to test.

7. The serpent is released

Essay 5 · Rev. 20:7–10

The ancient serpent is bound, but it is released once more. Why?

8. Why now?

Essay 7

The book names four conditions that must be met at the same time. The claim that the present is special fails if someone shows a time when all four were met.

9. The speed of the turn

Essay 7

Hypothesis: on the scale of history the turn happens within the coming decade, and in an individual life on the scale of a year. It shows in measures being returned from goals to tools. If that does not happen, the hypothesis fails.

10. How is this possible?

Epilogue

How can the same plot be found in ancient texts? The question moves behind the texts, into language itself. That is where the second book in the series, Realm of Language, begins.

The book’s claim about translation is not on this list, because it is a test rather than an open question: see The Language Test.
